My current system is not cutting the mustard, slow down in bf3 in big multplayer matchs.

Looking for a bit of future proof with the motherboard, and obvious looking to overclock the CPU.

I am under the impression RAM doesnt matter to much now days bar needing 1.5V is this Kingston ok for that? I'd quiet like 16Gb as I'v never regreted having too much RAM.

I think i need a new PSU as the current one only has one 4 pin cpu power connector (enermax 470) i think and one day thinking of SLI or Crossfire, so I want that option.
Currently got a 560 Ti which i got a good overclock out of, but one day SLI might makes some sense.

Is the current built list ok or any changes that I should think of?

Thanks

BF3 is bottlenecked by GPUs, mostly, although I dunno about a Core Duo performance in big MP matches.

Otherwise, the components are good. 16GB is complete overkill. 8GB is lot already, and you can always add another couple of sticks later, but the price is attractive.

PSU overkill as well unless you are thinking of SLI 580.

I am running that RAM at 1600mhz (well, the grey version), 1.5V and standard timings no problem. Does need a voltage bump if I want to overclock it though.

oliver the ram may be overkill but at that price you can't say no, loki remember the price is only till tonight and goes up tomorrow morning(not sure about what time).

750w will be enough for 560ti sli, may want to consider the modular version as it's a big better when it comes to cable management.

Well the RAM, looks great for the money didnt seam worth dropping to 8gb for small saving in cost. I know its overkill but been stung before with the changable price of RAM. What make you think the price is going up tommorrow?

Is the any advantage to looking at any Cosair Mem?

Didnt think it was worth overclocking RAM any more as gains not really there? (in games anyway)

Was thinking about 750w PSU but thinking 850w gives a bit more headroom for the future as you never knew if the next lot of componets become more powerhungry. Not that bothered about module psu for the cost increase.

they're going to be more power effiecient not more power hungry, ivybridge is a die shrink(so needs less power) also the new graphics cards the core size is shrinking so more power efficient(well I'm not sure about nvidia 6xx series but the amd/ati 7xxx series cards are going to be more power efficient compared to their 6xxx equivalents.

the modular version of the one you've chosen is only like £10 more, it's the hx and ax series that cost quite a bit more.

as for the ram http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18340544 no idea what the price will be from tomorrow.

doesn't really matter what ram you go for as no noticable real world difference in performance, just make sure it's dual channel pc3-12800 1600mhz as faster isn't really worth the extra tho make sure it's no more than 1.65v(older ddr3 ram needed higher voltage, for sandy bridge you want 1.5v).

Was gonning to hold off on the graphics card till it gets down to nearer £100 (well I'll see ;)

I got the standard Asus GeForce GTX 560Ti, with no overclock for about £150, then overclocked it to 980 so very happy with that and sold old graphics card for £35 pathetic value but easy sale.
