Upgrading from Gen 3 to Gen 4

Hi guys, I just want a quick reply, Is it worth investing into a Gen 4 CPU right now?

I have a gen 2 motherboard that I updated to work with Gen 3 but it's pretty out of date nowadays.

Would I see any increase in FPS during games? I5 over I7s? I believe BF4 would make use with a I7 if I recall?

Also ram OC's, Worth it?

Many questions.

It might help more to know what chips you currently have. If you go from an i3-3220 to an i7-4770k then yes the upgrade would almost certainly make a massive difference. If you are considering going from an i5-3570k to an i5-4670k then no, it really isnt worth it.

If you list your current cpu, board, and GPU you will probably find the advice you get is better tailored. Chances are if you have a decent gen 3 i5 / i7 you would get more for your money by upgrading the GPU rather than the CPU.

'Gen 5' as it were, Haswell refresh on the Z97 platform will be released in around a fornight.. Hang tight for that.

you don't need to worry about "5th gen" with that CPU you have there.

Got 1440p, Got a SSD. Don't get the fuss around Mechanical keyboards.
