Upgrading from my Ryzen 7 2700X

I currently have a Ryzen 7 2700X, I built the system near the end of 2018. I think it's a 2nd gen, Pinacle.

I'm a bit annoyed of having 3200mhz RAM and not being able to use it, so was thinking of selling my motherboard/CPU and doing an upgrade.

I was looking at the 3700X or the 3800X. Are they basically the same thing, just different speeds?

Has Intel come out with anything that can compete at the same price?

Thanks.

Did a bit of reading and your right about the power consumption, not sure it's worth it for a very small speed boost.
Setting my eyes on the 3700X at the moment.

I have a AX370 motherboard at the moment.

Checked and it does support the 3700X, but I know my current RAM.
Team Group Dark Pro "8Pack Edition" 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C14 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit
Is not listed under their compatibility list, so I would really love to find a motherboard which does.
I don't want to change my CPU to find out that I still can't run my RAM at max speed.

Think I'm going to hold of upgrading for now.

Going to see how fast and stable I can get my current RAM, then look into upgrading when the new range of CPU's come out.

Well, this see how long it lasts.
