bassicaly i want to change our current router so i bought a tp-w9980. i didnt think about what type i would need when i did this (bit of a richard manover) and just bought one that sounded decent on reviews and wasnt too dear.

tryed to set it up earlyer and realised there was no where for me to plug in the broadband cable. should i return this or is there anything i can use to connect the broadband cable.

all help welcome (Y)

Who is your ISP? Is it ADSL or Cable? Is your exchange due a VDSL upgrade?

Do you use wireless?

virgin media, think its cable because there is a unit in my mums room that runs a cable from outside. dont know what adsl or vdsl is. for my pc and consoles i use cables and when friends or family want it, i will turn the wireless on.

dont know what WAN is lol. my knowledge of connecting to the internet is just that i need a modem or router an isp and a device. my router now i think is a bit burned out so i want to change it.

If you have a Virgin connection then they'll supply you with one of their hubs. It remains their property and is maintained by them.

You do have the option of putting the hub into modem mode and using your own router, but you need to leave the hub connected.
