Upgrading from SLI Inno3D 780's...

As mentioned... I'm thinking of changing my GPU's.

System specs currently...

2 x Inno3D iChill Herculez 780's in SLI
AX-1200i PSU,
H100i cooled 3930k CPU,
ASUS P9X79E-WS mobo,
16GB Avexir Quad 2400mhz
500GB SSD
2TB HHD
CoolerMaster Cosmos II case
Running a ASUS VG278HE 27" 144Hz 3D LED 1080p monitor and a Samsung 27" S27B970D 1440p PLS monitor.

So there's plenty of space and general grunt to run the latest GPU's in...

I have been thinking about moving to a pair of Inno3D "Herculez X3 Ultra" 980's instead which come in at £800 a pair currently.
They look very much the same as my current 780's which I actually really like and I may even be able to swap backplates out on my top slot GPU which I had to modify slightly in order to fit the 3 slot card on the mobo's top PCI slot.
(took a small 5mm deep x 15mm long slither off the bottom edge of one backplate to fit over a heatsink more comfortably)

But the new TitanZ pricing has got me considering a single EVGA GeForce TitanZ at £1199. More CUDA cores and 12GB of memory are making me think of the long term power benefits...
(Also with the thought of adding a second TitanZ about 6 months or so down the line)

My budget is fine for both options right now and although I'm not at the moment, eventually I'm going to take the plunge for a 4K monitor set-up.
Just waiting for that perfect monitor deal!

So thoughts guys please?

Put yourself in my shoes with this current system and would you go all out and jump on a TitanZ?
Maybe prompting you to double up later to TitanZ SLI...

Or just move from a pair of 780's to a pair of 980's and be done with it?

Cheers in advance for your thoughts! ;)

Is their something wrong with your current setup? Surely it can max out any game at present!!??

Personally I'd wait 6 months for the full-fat Maxwell's to appear...

Nothing particularly wrong with the system but since the 980 launched, I kinda got the itch :D

I have been thinking about that too... Waiting to see whats going to come out in the near future and all.
Things like the 900 series low entry prices, the massive TitanZ price cuts and total death of 700 series stuff does make me wonder what Nvidia has got hidden up its sleeve and tucked just around the corner for us.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... Maybe waiting is the better idea... :(

Sit tight and wait it out. The 980 is great but you have a system that is already fit for purpose and unless you are benching, no point bud.

Wait if you can, 980 SLi won't give you a great deal of a boost and the TitanZ is pretty much a side-grade. Treat yourself to a nice fat SSD or new shiny tft instead ;)

No point upgrading from 780 sli at the moment in my opinion. Wait till next year (GM200/ATI next gen)

Going 980 sli will only net you about 20% more performance. Probably not worth it for the outlay really

Id stick to the 780s, or maybe even buy a full water cooling loop for them instead of paying for new GPUs :D.

If you clock those to 1250-1300 for gaming on water everything will fly.

Cheers for your comments guys and you've convinced me to wait out things for now! ;)
Now I'm just gonna go get some cream for this itch instead... :D
