So I got my hands on a copy of Snow Leopard, but as I've no experience with Macs (see previous threads) I have a silly question to ask.

If I upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard, will I lose my applications, documents, movies and pictures? Also, I have an older model Macbook (2Ghz, 1GB DDR, etc.) - will Snow Leopard work, and furthermore will it be better than what I'm currently using?

Thanks!

You won't lose anything, by default it'll just upgrade your OS and leave everything else. Obviously standard advice is to back up first.

SL should be quicker than Tiger yes, for what it costs I'd stick 2GB in that Macbook, it will perk it up noticeably.

Great news guys, thanks. I think I've found what I need on another website. Only one question remains - how the hell do I install it?

More to the point, which part on the bottom do I pop off? I've only ever done this on a Dell before.

Pop in the disk? :D

I believe you should be able to do a time machine backup (think of it as making a image of your entire PC) before you install and jobs a good'un. :)
