When i upgrade my PC later this year, im thinking about getting 4gb of ram, meaning i will need to upgrade my current vista home premium to 64bit rather than 32.

When doing this, will it format my hard drive? Like delete everything? Or can i just update the OS and thats it?

Thanks.

if you're asking is 64bit worth it over 32bit then its not gonna be too long before 4GB starts becoming a necessity rather than a luxury. Some would argue it already is for judder free gameplay. If you want your OS to see it and use it then 64 bit is the way to go.

If you're talking is Vista worth it over XP then there are plenty of views for and against in other threads. We're all gonna end up on it sooner or later though.

Sorry to hijack a thread, but instead of making a new one, I thought I'd ask here.

Would 64Bit Vista be any quicker then 32bit if you only have 2GB of RAM?

Ive just formatted a fresh install of Vista because I had to resize my partitions. Took me 2 days to back everything up to laptop drives, HDD drives and DVD's. Was worth the backup time.

64 bit is no faster than 32 bit IMO. If anything a bit slower.
