Upgrading gets less addictive i hope......?

i dont think hes trolling, i think he means that you still feel like a child, everytime you get a new toy, you just keep wanting more and more.

If I have to interpret a post, it is trolling in my eyes. Just to state that is trying to cause an argument, or get a reply from the OP.

I'm looking to change my i7 system to SB or wait for Ivy Bridge!!

Fancy a change.
I thought about this as well, but then realised it would be a bit silly, cpu and ram are already still pretty high end, the only upgrade i might make in the forseeable future is on the gpu front. I recently bought a 120gb ssd, fantastic upgrade. But im waiting on bf3 coming out, if the 470's dont cut the mustard in it, theyll be gone. My next full system upgrade will probably be ivy bridge, or i may go back to amd with bulldozer, if it arrives at a good price, and offers a signifigant performance increase.

what are we going to do with you?

You clearly need a mahosive 100% modular PSU.

Your life will have an empty hole if you dont crossfire another 6950.

And the case, sheeesse!! will not do at all.

I do for airflow needs.

I think a puppy somewhere just died :( I have to crossfire.

Again, i think the world will explode if I don't change it soon.

:D

This is also my reasoning for not rushing into doing the upgrade, the other thought was most of the components still have 10 months warranty left and sell shortly so in theory the components would still have some value and warranty.

Yep, its a hard time to decide wether to upgrade or not, new amd gpu's shortly, sandy bridge e, bulldozer etc. From looking at the latest video for bf3, being run on sli gtx 580. A gpu upgrade will be on the horizon for me first. Thankfully my board, cpu and ram are all still in warranty as well, and a pretty good clocking, cool running combo on air. As for the op's original question, upgrading does indeed get very addictive, any time i have a surplus of cash, (not often theese days) im looking at new bits and bobs, anything from a new fan to a new blu ray drive etc. In a way, i see it as an investment, change for me from drinking or gambling the cash away tbh.:D

I was thinking of waiting for new tech. But i have been on socket 775 for like years and years. So thought it's about time. I find most people wait and wait and wait. Then something else comes along LOL

Your current setup is a very nice upgrade from s775.

Regarding funny upgrade stories. I bought a brand new seasonic s12 600w psu, first time i turned it on it blew up, i hit the rear switch, nice blue flash and a loud bang, followed by part of my finger nail being singed. My dog was in the room (he was a gundog), heard the bang and went ballistic, thought there was something for him to retrieve.

LOL - Epic haha, shame about the psu :(

Just spied some really cheap 2.1 speakers on special :o

I hate free deliv..and love it too.. I think hmm I need new fans. (just got 2 red xigsomething fans) then tonight, decided I wanted a shiny red gaming keyboard to compliment the fans And il save money cos it's free deliv! :D and also want another 460 for Sli. Not that I can't run everything I play already.. Just. I want I want! .. no one still answered my question from tother thread, will 2 460 768mbs run on a xxx 650w xfx psu?

Got it after you recommended someone else it at somepoint stulid, but forgot what you said it'd run lol.

Thankyou :-) am I right in thinking that different brands don't matter Sli wise, Using the asus engtx version, there like £135 on the bay :-/ rip off, but the nvidia rebrand ones on the offers for £89.99 seem really good value

They all consume about the same wattage, even the most extreme of overclocked cards won t vary that much.

Just match the RAM capacity to what you currently have got, don't try mixing a 768mb with a 1gb card.

Will be absolutely fine, i run two of the much more greedier gtx 470's, total power consumption with the spec in sig is 630w when gaming, 740w with furmark, 860w with prime and furmark together, not something im in a hurry to try again, psu is a corsair hx 850w.
