Hi,

I have a agp 8x hercules prophet aiw Radeon 9800se, softmodded to 8 piplines and running about a 10% overclock. This is in an overclocked barton system with 512mb memory at 200mhz x2.

I've just started playing BF2142. You know my next question don't you? Well I'd like more graphics detail. So just wondering how much quicker today's best £100-150 card is than mine?

I know BF loves memory, but if I just upgrade the gfx card, can I play in higher res, or does that reall increase the main memory required? I.e. is the bottleneck for high fps and detail mainly the gfx card?

Thanks,
Philip

If you got a 7600 GT or X1950 Pro you'd get a massive speed boost (more so with the X1950) BUT your right, in BF2 you really need memory and 512MB sure as heck won't cut it.

You can get away with 1GB and a pretty decent graphics card but as soon as you ramp the settings up a bit bang, 2GB bites you up the bum.

Get some DDR memory second hand, and then a 7600 GT.

That might be a bit pricey, maybe get a 6800GT second hand, leaving more money for memory.
