I bought my current PC from here 3 years ago, and it has served well, however a problem that was never fixed is the video card, after coming on these forums i realize i should've probably sent it back as it was faulty from the box.
Now that it is old enough, i was debating getting a whole new build, but that's expensive and there is only really one problem with it, so i wanted to know if i get an upgrade, would my build be compatible with Nvidia, will i need to upgrade the PSU and if possible a couple of recommendations.

My current build:
1 x MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming Edition OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614)
1 x Gigabyte 970A-UD3P AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard
1 x Toshiba SSD HDTS212EZSTA 9.5mm 128GB Solid State Hard Drive - Retail
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black
1 x BitFenix Shadow Tower Case - Midnight Black
1 x Avexir Core Red Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U16000904G-2CIR)
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD
1 x Raijintek Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler

atm im looking at a gtx 1050 ti, but also debating putting in the extra for a 1060, but as stated, unsure if my amd build will support a nvidia card, reason being after having a dodgey amd card, im a bit funny with them, also can now afford to spend a little bit extra. I mainly use the computer for playing games.

it will do

a 1060 is much faster than a 1050ti, but i'd get the 1060 6gb version, especially if you're gaming - but it's currently overpriced (by quite a large margin) due to the crypto craze

will i need to upgrade the PSU
no need

tbh, the 8320 is a wee bit underwhelming, but still decent enough for the job.
i'd probably also upgrade the ram with another 2x4gb sticks second hand to bump the total up to 16gb, along with the gpu.
