Upgrading GPU on an old MB

Hi,
I have an old mb which is pci-e 1.1 & have been thinking of upgrading my gtx660 to a gtx1060.
Will the older version pci-e make that much difference. In the framerate etc in gaming.

Been told on the board is pci-e 2 but shows 1.1 when ticking over... Which is great..
I have an i5 3570k CPU so everything seems OK for my upgrade.... Lastly is the 6gb version worth the extra over the 3gb version of the gtx 1060.... Thanks again.
