Hi All,

I'm looking to upgrade my video card from an old Nvidia 650 to a newer GTX 1050 Gaming 4G. Is it a case of unmounting my old graphics card and popping in the new one (cables/screws/leads etc) or is it more complicated than that.

I've got an old i5-3470 with an Asus P8H61- MX USB3 motherboard and 8GB RAM which are apparently all compatible.

I'm a complete noob when it's comes to internal PC stuff so any help much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

It's more or less that simple although just to be sure I would uninstall the current driver before removing the old card just to rule out any problems occurring. After that shut down, turn all power off and swap the cards over making sure to plug in the power cable if the card needs one. Once installed boot up and install the latest driver and away you go.

Perfect, thanks a lot. I'll keep in mind about uninstalling the drivers, just updated them so I know where to find those lol

I was worried as it appeared relatively easy for someone like me with no experience :p

With installing drivers can select Custom then tick the box that says delete old version and install new version fresh - or along those lines :)

If your OTT you install DUU and run that then install new driver ...
