Hi all,

My friend wants to upgrade the hard drive on his Macbook Pro.

Does it take a normal 2.5" SATA Hard Drive?

Will the Macbook format it automatically into the correct format etc..?

Thanks

You may need to load up Disk Utility from the menu bar at the top of the screen when you come to install Mac OS X, as the unformatted new drive won't show up in the list of volumes to install to.

Bit of a pain in the ass to get to on the early models. 20+ screws just to get the keyboard off to get to the innards. Designed like a ThinkPad they are not...

The the base of the machine is held on with ten phillips head screws.
