Upgrading HDD & memory in 2010 Macbook Pro

I'm looking into upgrading the hard drive and memory in my Macbook Pro 7,1 and just want to check a couple of things.

For the hard drive I'm looking at the 1tb Seagate SSHD ST1000LM014. Are there any potential issues using this one?

Memory wise I believe I can go up to 16gb, but only looking to up the current 4gb to 8. Have been looking at this Geil kit. Again, any potential issues using this kit?

Open to suggestions for different 1tb HDDs and 8gb memory kits.

Cheers. I mistake, have read that about the memory and thought that was what that Geil stuff was but clearly isn't :o
 
With the hybrid drive you're suggesting you should be fine, but if you choose a pure SSD based drive TRIM is again an issue under Yosemite - if you're using a non apple drive. You can get round it, but at a price of turning off KEXT validation.

I've never run it on anything that's not current/previous gen which is more than capable, but that's dale1uk's choice, at least if he does decide to upgrade he's aware of the potential TRIM issue before hand :)
 
Thanks for the advice guys. Wont be going for a full SSD anytime soon, I can't justify the outlay of a 1TB one compared to a Hybrid one.

Any suggestions on what software is the best to use for making a bootable clone of my current HDD?
