Im working all this weekend all this week, and will be getting around £500-600. and i think its time for me to upgrade my pc a little.

Right now i got a:

AMD64 3200+ Venice 939
2gb - Geil PC3200 - dual channel
X600 PCIe
2x80gb Sata in Raid0
1 x 80gb IDE HDD.

All this is in a shuttle PC. :/

I was wondering if you guys could point me out in the right direction for a decent motherboard that will take all of these components above.

But im also thinking about upgrading my

CPU to a 3700+ San Diago 1mb L2 cache or a X2 3800+ - anyone got any good info about this processor?

GFX - to a decent card, dunno wether Nvidia or ATI. I dont know what are good cards

can you please help me?

and price me up an upgrade. budget is around £400 - £500

i also need a case and psu.

thanks.

all replies will be greatly appreciated

How about this? You'd notice a fairly big increase from the 3200+ the the X2. I reckon ocuk might drop their x2 3800+ prices shortly if gibbos recent request for cheapest available x2 is anything to go by. I would bother with an upgrade to the 3700 sd personally as you could probably get a decent oc from you're 3200+

hi, thanks for the spec. i was just wondering, Dual Core is better than a single core right now? i was planning on to OC the 3700+. im fairly new to the Dual Cores and i have no idea about the performance :/

soo i should stick with the X2 3800+? if soo ill be ordering that list some time today or tomorrow.

x2 3800+ is effectively 2 3200+ venices. It depends what you're using the system for. You might not need an upgrade at all, I personally wouldnt bother upgrading from a 2ghz 512k cache to a 2.2ghz 1mb cache. Doesnt seem worth the hassle, although the 3700+ sd's are coming out with outstanding oc's atm. Having you tried clocking that 3200 ?

yeah my 3200+ is @2.4ghz. ive read quite a few good reviews about the 3700+ sd overcloking.

im just thinking wouldnt the 3200+ bottle neck?

i generally use my pc for gaming. thats all.

if i also got another processor i could sell my shuttle.

what u reckon? thx for info.

Your current CPU is fine mate. It isn't even close to being a bottleneck. There must be other things you'd like to spend the money on? A bigger monitor perhaps? Or go for the best gfx you can afford.

Your 2gb of ram is 2x1gb sticks right? What PSU do you have? I'd go for an ATi x1900 personally.
