Upgrading itch

Hiya guys,

My plans up until now were to just put another 290X in my system, get it underwater and be done with it, staying at 1080P for a while..

But it's payday soon and i've found myself caught with a severe upgrade bug,

I'm torn as to which direction to take so looking for advice on what to do.

The only definite is that i will be moving to X99 when released.

So do i:

1) Get another Reference 290X and stay at 1080P untill the move?

2) Stay exactly as i am now and keep the pennies for the move to x99?

3) Get another reference 290X but move to a bigger monitor? (See list)

4) Sell my 290X and get CF 290X Lightnings?

5) Stay put and wait for new AMD or Nvidia cards?

My only concern with waiting for the new cards is that the performance increase isn't going to be much if it's still 28nm..

Bah!, need to get something, even if it's just a new case, this 630 while decent isn't something that i'd normally go for.

I'm edging towards getting a 4K panel now and making do with 1 290X untill the move to x99.

Get you CPU watercooled?
Gives you a little project plus you can hopefully use the PCU block on the x99 platform?

Already done jony cpu and gpu.

Option 2 (no really)

Make a separate savings account, and make it your mission (thus starving off the upgrade itch) to fill it as much as possible and think about those lovely new motherboards, CPUs and GPUs you'll be able to get when X99 hits the shelves

I'd rather a totally fresh, high end system in one hit rather than small incremental updates, just my opinion

Option 5 Buy the case you want for x99 and save the rest

Yeah Kaaps i agree bud, when i said it's a definite, that's depending on reviews etc.

I think what i'm going to do is get myself a new case and monitor for now, still undecided on 4K or or a superwide res.

I'll defintely getting saving Si, but i can't promise i'll be able to resist temptation lol.

4K it is then, hopefully funds depending i can find a cheap 290X on the MM to add too.
