I have an HP laptop which I am upgrading, next I was thinking of upgrading the CPU but wasnt sure if it was worth the hassle.

The chip in there atm is an AMD XP-M 2400+, the maximum the laptop can take is an AMD XP-M 2600+ chip, problem is im having trouble finding one.

Is it really worth upgrading it or will I not see much of an increace in performance?

only xp-m2600 cpus your gonna find now are second hand ones.
its a good cpu to use for your laptop although im not sure how much clock speed difference there is from your current cpu.

my xp-m2600 has a stock cpu speed of 2ghz, whats the stock speed of your 2400?

1.80Ghz is the stock speed.

Iv already upgraded the RAM from 128MB Shared RAM/Video Memory to 1GB of PC2100 SODIMM. This is the max it will take. Its quite a nippy laptop now but I want to try and get more out of it if possible.

You wouldn't notice any difference at all imho. I still have my trusty XP2500-M and NF7-S combo that I bought years ago when it was top end  This thing overclocks all the way upto 2.5ghz which is rated at something daft like XP4200 or whatever?

I just run it at 2ghz in silence instead and I can't tell the difference and it's a whopping 500mhz difference, so I'm sure you won't.
