My laptop has a 2.8 Celeron D in atm and i cba to buy a new laptop so im gonna stick a new cpu in i think.

Would a Mobile P4 2.66 or 3.0 be quite a bit faster than the celeron?
 
Does your BIOS support this chip?
Is the cooling solution capable of this extra heat?
Is your battery/charger capable of the extra power consumption?

Those two chips will be faster than your Celery.
 
They do the same model of my laptop with the P4 cpu in, i have cheacked and the heat sink is all the same and the bios versions are the same.
