Upgrading laptop ram to 8GB

Fixing my nephew laptop and repacing the extraction fan that died so he can play a few basic games.
while I have the laptop open I would like to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB for him.

Not sure what ram compatible with the Asus X53s MB version K53SC

Elpida 4GB 2Rx8 PC3-10600s-9-10-F2

That's a DDR3 1333mhz (PC3-10600) So-Dimm so 204 pin.

Looking on the bay 8gb is about £25 or so.

Are you sure an 8Gb stick will work in it? I have a few old laptops where an 8gb stick just results in a beep and failure to boot.

Looking online it does state max is 8Gb? What does it currently have installed, a single 4gb or 2 2gb sticks? If the later then you'll need to get 2 4gb sticks, the 10600 speed is fine.
