Hello atm I have a

Pentium 4 651 3.4Ghz @ 4.0Ghz Stock cooling
ASrock xfireesata2+ (800fsb)
2gb DDR2 533Mhz ram dual channel (samsung ****) @ 4-4-4-12
2x320gb Sata2 Seagate
512mb 7900GTO MSi
Dell 2407Wfp
ThermalTake Purepower 680w

Now I was wondering, this rig is pretty [Language!] atm. Would it be worth sticking in a E4300 in it to make it last me a bit longer? Will I get a massive improvement or will the crap motherboard and ram hold me back.

Just for the info, you cant change the fsb rating in the bios or the Voltage. You can however change the frequency. My P4 is @ 4.0Ghz atm and holding up well.

Cheers thanks a lot.

see thats my problem.

I have a load of money (windfall ;) ) but I am reluctant to be paying big money.

I have a feeling in the next couple of months prices are going to be dropping like stones. (intels priceplan, 8800 having contenders etc).

Therefore I am looking to save as much as possible.

However I am open to all suggestions :)

Damn.... was just reading the Dell 3007WFP thread. I should have brought it instead of this dell. :( Wonder if dell will take the 2407wfp and let me pay the difference) :p Only being using it a month.

Oh well. Got a 5yr warrenty on it

In may I will have finished my A levels. (bugger just found out I have an exam tommorrow in law :(, im stuffed).

Anyway...

In May i will have finished and will be looking at

Intel E6700 or QX6700
As much ram as possible
Keep Hard drives
8800GTX SLI
Upgrade to Dell 3007wfp (maybe more)
680i (prob 980i by then :p )

That should get me thro Uni, where I am doing Computer games and software development.
