Hey guys,

Ive got a mac mini, 1.66 GHz, 512RAM intel core duo. Its been fine for me but I wana beef it up a bit.

1. Was thinking of upgrading the RAM to 2GB (2x 1GB), but where should I get this from? does it have to be a specific make?

2. Is there anyway of getting more out of the current processor at all? as i don't know if it is possible to replace it with a better one.

Any advice would be great

Cheers

I'm not sure if I can link to it but if you Google "upgrade mac mini cpu" there are a lot of guides out there. Same goes for the RAM.

As I'm sure youve guessed it voids the warraty and is a bit fiddly.

There is a part number for a putty knife. Make sure you get a nice soft one though because you could easily scratch or mark your poor mini. You basically turn it upside down and pry the clips away slightly. I used a youtube video to do my PPC mini years ago, i'm sure it is still there/applicable :)

I am sure people have replaced the CPU's in Minis with Core2duo's (as the new minis have these processors anyway now) but I am not sure whether the speed increase would be large enough for the hassle of replacing it, voiding your warranty and the cost of buying the CPU.

Have a google see what you can find.
