Upgrading Macbook Pro CPU

Any one here thought about upgrading their CPU? I've got an old 2ghz core duo CPU in mine at the moment. Was thinking about buying a nice new Core 2 Duo at some point.

Any one had any experience with upgrading?

I'm pretty sure they're soldered onto the logic board making it more than a little tricky to upgrade. I remeber reading a while ago about someone changing the CPU in a mac mini, I'll post a link if I find it.

I don't think the newer Intels are soldered down.. that's certainly not the case for the MacPros.

Might be different for the laptop ranges though.. might want to Google it

All Apple Laptops have soldered CPUs unfortunately.

It's soldered on, and there's not much point - Core2 adds 64-bit EM64T and that's it. The new Santa Rosa's run a higher FSB so won't work.

Would it be worth the risk/cost/hassle? Not at all, IMO..

Maybe. But I think you should calm down. Thanks for the info, but I think you're going slightly over the top!
