Hi,

I'm new to this forum and to the whole idea of upgrading computer components. I've got a Packard Bell iMedia 1628 http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/?sn=049681920259&g=1400 which has 1gb (2x512mb) of DDR2-533 RAM. I would like to up this to 2gb, possibly more. The motherboard can apparently take DDR2-667 RAM as well so would something like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-095-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=144 be ok? I'd also like to upgrade the graphics card but that's a question for the graphics card section.

Thanks.

Theres a scanner here that may help you.
The memory your looking at is possibly faster than you need, but that won't matter.
This stuff is unknown to most of us (Packard Bell that is) and they don't use standard motherboards as such.

Hmm, that scanner only tells me that there's 4 slots of which 2 are free and that I can have a maximum of 4gb RAM. It doesn't give any recommendations. Anyway on the motherboard it has printed Gigabyte GA-8I945PM-RH. Having a look on google gives this information http://www.directron.com/ga8i845pmrh.html According to that, I can put in DDR2 667. Question is, would it be ok to put the RAM that I've linked to in, if I take the the current RAM out?

I would have thought so.
Is this it?
Get the manual if it is, and check you can up the ram voltage a tad.

Some DDR2 seems to like more than stock.

Finally got around to ordering the Corsair 2GB kit yesterday and installed it earlier. Everything went fine, infact I was surprised just how quick and easy it is.
