Hi all,
Looking to upgrade my 5870, can't believe its 4 years old already! I've been PC gaming but haven't kept up with hardware stuff at all. Looking for a card that will give me a nice bump whilst not being bottlenecked by the rest of my system. Can spend around £200 (and a little bit more ;))
Looking at this : - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-225-MS&groupid=701&catid=56

I only game at 1920x1080 so do you think that card is suitable or should I go for something less powerful. Hopefully will build a new system in 6-12 months but I need something to get me through until then as I can't deal with turning settings down all the time!

Specs in Sig if you need more info please tell me, I'm assuming my PSU won't be a problem.

Thanks for any help I get.

Oli.

Back when the 7970 launched, I moved from 2 5870s to a single 7970 and found performance almost exactly the same once I'd clocked the card to about what that 280X is running. In other words, you should be getting roughly twice the performance of your 5870 for £200 less what you can sell your 5870 for. I call that a result mate. :D

Sounds like i'm putting an order in soon then! Thanks for your responses guys. Gonna be like a second Christmas when i plug my new card in :D

It will be, I still run a couple of 5970s but also have a couple of HD 7970s (280Xs by another name) and it will be a nice bump in performance.

I ran my 1gb vram 5970s on bf4 last night and the best they could do was medium settings, with my HD 7970s (280Xs) they should be good for ultra settings because of the 3gb vram they come with.
