Bought the Antec p182 case today

now going tho get these as im tight on budget

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Antec TruePower Trio 650W PSU

is this a good choice or does anyone have any comments on it?? ill have to hold out for graphics card for a while ..

maybe look at the 6750 processor (cheaper) or q6600 (dearer).

if you want a 500gb hd have a look at either seagate/samsung or if you can afford the extra get the western digital AAKS.

psu have a look at the Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU.

Would drop the Antec for a Corsair HX520 which saves you about £10. Would also change the E6600 for the faster, and oddly cheaper E6750 (newer tech and newer price bracket therefore cheaper and better!) and I would consider changing the hard drive for a Western Digital AAKS. The motherboard however is great, and so is the RAM.

[EDIT]: lol I noticed mp260767 posted exactly the same system upgrades, I should learn the read posts prior to replying! sorry for the duplication of the information.

Good advice from the guys :)

I have an AAKS WD and it is a lovely drive......and the Corsair is a great PSU for the dosh !

the e6750 is faster and cheaper because it runs at a faster FSB than the e6600, so it potentially puts more stress on the motherboard at stock, and as such the relative overclock will be less.

i.e.

e6600
stock 9 x 266 = 2.4GHz
OC 9 x 333 = 3GHz

e6750
stock 8 x 333 = 2.66GHz

So for the same FSB, the e6600 is faster.

Nothing wrong with the e6750, I'd probably get one of the lower cache chips and save a load though :) e2160 or e4400 for instance.

The Geil stuff is pretty good (says a guy with 4GB of it :D)....dunno about the mobo, but most Gigabyte's are pretty handy :)

got all these today lads. thanks for your help
