Upgrading my CPU - £320 Budget - Help? :)

To the OP or anybody else concerned with the performance of high end video cards on a X8 pci-e lane, my advice is don't be.
If you look at techpowers pci express scaling results here, you'll notice there is barely any difference in fps between 16X and 8X.
By the time video cards are fast enough to totally saturate an 8X lane you'll be on to newer and faster mainboards.
I'm currently running the P55 board in my sig below with 2X 260GTXs and it runs perfectly with good scaling in SLi.
If you really feel the need to get a P55 board with true 16x 16x lanes then you'll need to be looking at one with the NF200 chip onboard,
such as the EVGA P55 Classified 200 but tbh if you're thinking of paying that much on a board you may as well get an X58!

Also would this ram work in the system:
Patriot Sector 5 G Series 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel
