Afternoon all,

I did a partial upgrade to my PC earlier this year which included a new GPU, RAM and a few other bits like a SSD and what not.

I am starting to look toward replacing my old but incredibly good i5 2500K.

The limiting factor is cost (as always).

Is it possible to put together a new Mobo, CPU, Cooler and RAM for roughly 3-400 imperial credits of the realm? Skylake if possible. And more importantly would i get a decent performance gain? Im looking at ARMA 3 here, my GPU solved most of my woes with every other game and gave me a marginal increase on ARMA but its a CPU heavy game and my rig still struggles a little.

I haven't really looked at CPUs or been keeping in the loop with them, so i come to you for advice.

Cheers,

LoSt.

For £400 quid you should be able to get i5 6600k, a motherboard and 16GB RAM whether it's worth it I don't know. Might be worth giving overclocking a go.

it was originally overclocked to 4.2ghz but after about 3 years that became really unstable and caused be more trouble than it was worth, so i dropped back to a stock clock @ 3.3ghz and have had no further issues.

pump more volts in to it, i think you stick it out another year before upgrading
