Somewhere in the middle.
I currently have the PC in sig. Paired with an old but solid Tagan 480w PSU

Im happy with gfx card but the rest is beginning to show its age.

Could someone please gimme the best bang for buck upgrade (sandybridge please)

Im guessing CPU, Mobo, Ram.

Hope my PSU will be ok. Thanks

Ideally around 300.

As long as its considered good value I dont mind. Ive always bought systems that gave me the best bang for buck, and with current games not pushing PCs too hard anything pretty quick should impress me :)

Thanks for that, looks ideal. So should my psu be okay, and also is the memory and motherboard good enough for a decent overclock.

Cheers I'm a bit clueless

You can overclock that easy enough, the MSI board hopefully will be just like its bigger brother here - http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2011/01/07/how-to-overclock-the-intel-core-i5-2500k/5

Also theres another guide here - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18227651

The stock cooler supplied can manage an easy 4.4GHZ - http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/...-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/3

Or do you have a aftermarket heatsink with a socket 1156/55 fitment that you are currently using on your current build?

I cant see any reason why your PSU wont be ok.

My current cooler is an old but good noctua, unsure off the fitment compatibility. I think at the time it just had brackets for the 775 and older socket and amds contender.

It sounds like a good spec though, will take the bottleneck off my current gfx card too .

Thanks for the recommendation stulid. I just ordered that lot a few minutes ago.

Hopefully all goes well with it. :)

Woulda been cheaper but im stuck in the bloody highlands so had to pay delivery :(

On the stock cooler my 2600K hits the mid 80's at 4GHZ never-mind anywhere near 4.5GHZ.

Not too bothered at the moment as I'll get an aftermarket cooler when I have some funds...It just annoys me that I keep hearing this and yet cannot do it on my CPU.

its just according to anandtech. maybe they had better airflow or cooler room temps.

Well fingers crossed I can get a reasonable clock on mine. Looking forward to the upgrade :)
