Upgrading my gaming Rig; but have a few questions.

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC, by adding a second Graphics card. My current specs are...

Intel i7-2600K 3.40Ghz (Cooled by a Corsair CWCH70 Water Cooler)
MSI GeForce GTX 580 OC Twin FrozR II OC 1536MB
1TB HD
Crucial RealSSD M4128GB Solid State Hard Drive
Coolermaster Cosmos S case
1000w PSU
Dell U2711 27" monitor.

I've never done a SLI build before and have a few questions..

1) Will I need to buy the exact same graphics card? or will any GTX 580 card work?

2) If I SLI two MSI GeForce GTX 580 OC Twin FrozR II OC cards will I have a heat problem, so will I need to switch to water cooling?

1) Any 1.5GB GTX580 will work.

2) You have a decent case, heat wont be an issue


Can I ask what motherboard you have?

Your case is designed for up to 3 way sli, looking at it you should not have any issues with heat.

your mobo will need to support sli ofc but other than that you should be gravy.

Yup thats an sli enabled board so just make sure you buy a 1.5gb card and your all good, FYI if for some reason the 2Gb cards are cheaper they will also work but you will still only have 1.5gb of vram available.
