Hey guys!

My current set up is as follows

- i5 2500k overclocked 4.5ghz
- Black edition hyper 212 evo
- Asus P8Z77-M
- 16gb 1600mhz DDR3 Corsair vengeance ram

- Zotac AMP! Extreme 980ti 6gb
- 1000w Power supply

I am wonder if i should upgrade to a i7 2600k/2700k or 3770k
or Upgrade to something like a Ryzen 5 2400g or 2600 and get new mobo and ram.
I dont want to spend too much money as i have only had that setup for few months.
trying to play games at 1440p with 144hz monitor so trying to get more performance.

what games are you playing?
i'd be tempted to say just leave it alone.
the cpu/gpu/ram is well balanced - if you want to upgrade, it'll have to be the whole core (ie cpu/mobo/ram/gpu)
getting a 2600k/2700k/3770k "upgrade" is just throwing money away as it stands nowadays

don't bother. you clearly don't have the cash for it currently
stick with 1080p high refresh rate - it would be a better match for your build

Whilst I don't fundamentally disagree with Tammzy, you could probably keep the 980ti and upgrade to a Ryzen 5 2600 or the new Ryzen 1600 AF (make sure you get the AF not older Ryzen Gen 1 1600 AE) for £110 (if memory serves me correct, a 2600 built on 12nm technology but with a 1600 designation).

A B450 motherboard like the MSI Tomahawk Max for £90 or an Asus TUF for about £80, 16GB RAM 3200+ for £60 - £80 and you are good to go for £250 - £280.

i did consider suggesting that...but it doesn't sound like op wanted to spend that much in the first place :/

I have a very similar setup. How much performance would be gained from doing this though? Cant believe my 2500k still feels pretty good for 1080p

Ive got 2500k at 5 on water. 980ti extreme amp zotac. I could spend 3-350 on an upgrade. Might get a 1440p display so wondering if its worth the cash
