This is my current build, which I purchased from OcUK around 3 or 4 years ago.

Intel i7 950 @ 4Ghz
Asus P6X58D-E
Gigabyte GTX 470
Corsair Dominator 6GB RAM

I'm thinking of replacing my 470, which by the way is a true champ of a card. It still plays everything I chuck at it - but it doesn't support more than two monitors unfortunately and I now have three.

So I was thinking of going for the ASUS R9-290x DirectCU ii OC. Now I can also afford a 780 ti, but I decided not to go for it due to it having less vram. Is that sensible? or is the 780 ti a better choice? I want to game with 3 monitors, with just one card.

Also, will my motherboard be okay with the latest cards?

Thanks for the help.

either should be fine depending upon what game your playing.

Your board will be fine as pci-e 3 makes so little difference to pci-e 2 it wont be noticed.

Get the best you can afford, followed by the features you want. If you upgrade you can carry it over or even XF/Sli them.

yes it will be fine same as the 290x would. As thont said go for the one with all the features you need and price you can afford and you will be fine.
