Hi im looking to order a motherboard and CPU upgrade + ram for my pc.

I already have a 700W PSU + SSD Hard drives and happy with my GTX 660. but want a case upgrade so that it keeps the new bits nice and cool and so the new bits fit.

I was thinking of ordering

Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 - Devils Canyon Core i7 4790K CPU & Motherboard Bundle
Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Red
Corsair Hydro H105 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Phanteks Enthoo Pro Mid Tower Enthusiast Case without Window
£643
Would I need anything else and would all of that work well? Like do i need to order any paste to put the CPU onto the motherboard?

Or would getting
ReVenge Gigabyte Z97 - Intel Core i7 4790K @ up to 4.6GHz Configurable Enthusiast Gaming Bundle
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-007-OG&groupid=2833&catid=2512&subcat=2513 with the h100i upgrade
and a case be a better option? And if I ordered a case at the same time would you put the pre-built bundle into it so then i just fit my psu and HD's and graphics card when it arrives?
If so what case would be best for that bundle?

Hi

The 1st option is a good one if you are just gaming. The Gigabyte board in the 2nd spec is geared more towards overclocking.

If you don't plan on doing anything like Video rendering/Editing, then you could drop down to the i5 4690K. You could always upgrade to an i7 later on.

The Phanteks is a great case, so I won't suggest anything else there.

If you decide to go for the i7 then I would suggest sticking with the H105 over the H100i.

What make/model power supply do you currently have ?

Thanks, i wish overclockers did the parts in my 1st option but as an overclocked bundle. Or would they if asked?

The only reason i listed the 2nd option was because OC has pre-overclocked/built it so i wouldn't need 2.

I have just got a gopro so will start doing abit of video editing now and then plus for the sake of the difference in money will stick with the i7 as want to future proof asmuch as possible.

The power supply i have is an OCZ Stealth Xstream 2 700W

So the H105 will fit in the Phanteks case then no problem?

I guess i will need some Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound to fit the processor?

Well ive gone ahead and ordered my 1st option.

Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 - Devils Canyon Core i7 4790K CPU & Motherboard Bundle
Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Red
Corsair Hydro H105 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Phanteks Enthoo Pro Mid Tower Enthusiast Case without Window

I don't think the pre-overclocked bundles ship fully assembled anyway, as they could get damaged in transit. So either way you would still have to fit the cooler.

Yeah the H105 fits in the Phanteks no problem. The H105 will come with it's own thermal paste (Either pre-applied or a sachet etc)

If you use the link below, you can claim £25 cashback from the Motherboard/cpu bundle.

Yeah i spoke with OC and they said the paste wouldnt be needed so didnt order it.

Thanks I did find out about that promotion but very grateful for you also pointing it out :)

After a late night all set up and very fast, really happy with the results and service from OC.

Need to order a bluray drive now as my old DVD drives dont have Sata connection only IDE.
