Hiya

As in the topic, I'm looking to upgrade my rig.
Currently I run:
CPU: AMD FX-4100 - 3,6Ghz
GPU: Sapphire HD 7950 3Gb
RAM: 4GB
Storage:
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo - 128GB
HDD: Hitachi 350GB

I was sort of planning to go and change only mobo, CPU and ram as my GPU is still solid (my thinking). Also I was thinking to add M2 SSD but now wondering if it is actually worth it...

Have looked at originally at i5 6600K plus mobo Z170 and 16GB of ram (ddr4 3000Mhz) in the region of £380. I have somewhere arround £500-600 to spend.

Should I get just 3 things as stated as it will be enough, or better CPU? Or I'm wrong in saying that my GPU is still decent and should change it as well to go pair in pair with new CPU?

Also... RAM... from what I understand the higher the MHZ the slower the CL... is it better to go 3000mhz or a bit slower 2400 but better CL?

Regards :)

Thanks for the advice :)

And regarding M2? Is it actually worth it for just gaming if I already have a decent SSD? I know for a fact that even on i7 and just about top range GPU for example StarCraft2 can frame up with mass zerg overrun :)

Might be a dumb question but on the mobo you have suggested it states:
"Multi-GPU Support Support for 2-Way AMD CrossFire™ technology"

If for instance I would decide to upgrade my GPU and wanted NVIDIA, would that be an issue? Usually the mobo description will say that it supports both technologies... SLI as well as CrossFire. Most likely i would not go for dual GPU setup but not sure if that could cause a potential problem...

You would need a different board if you wanted to do SLI.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £304.48
(includes shipping: £10.50)

You would need to change your psu as well, as 500W/550W isn't big enough.

LGA1151 uses the same hole spacing as 1150/1155/1156. Some manufacturers are now specifying their coolers fit LGA115x, others just leave them saying fits 1150.

If it fits 1150, it'll fit 1151.

Hiya all

I hope for the last time now :)

My basket looks like the below:

Have I missed something? Or is there something of a better value for similar price.

Also... As the new Radeon RX480 is out ( https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapp...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-379-sp.html ) I'm thinking is the £220 worth to pay to exchange my Sapphire HD7950...

My finger is very itchy to press on the Submit button :)

Some say (STIG!! :P ) that the new RX480 is a hell of a lot faster and some that 7950 is still a decent card so I'm a bit torn what to do with that... Would really appreciate the last advice on this topic :)
