Hey guys and girls

I have purchased a Refurbished PC i know a number of people will be against it but i done some research and come to the conclusion that this will be a good starting point, i have the following specs:

Device name DESKTOP-HBA9GC2
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.10 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
Device ID 70C76770-7F33-4449-A0B8-7C48F5CD18D8
Product ID 00330-80000-00000-AA918
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Graphics card NVIDIA GT730

i cannot find the model or manufacturer of the motherboard. i was told i need to upgrade my graphics card to be able to run directx12 the graphics card im looking at is the Asus R9270 2gb Direct CU II Graphics Card

Any pointers or corrections will be helpful

TIA

That card is very old, but TBH the PC is very old too. You'll notice an enormous benefit with a SATA SSD most of all so that's what I'd be looking at first as well as your graphics card. Trying to get your hands on a NVidia GTX970 for around £100 would be good too.

i do plan on upgrading the whole thing eventually but the research i have done indicate the benefit will be with the graphics cards but will try the SSD will be an upgrade from my HHD

This would be a 'cheap' upgrade although with the graphics card you would also need to check the power output and cables on the psu.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £376.46 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Im assuming your have a standard ATX case and not a Dell one.

The r9 270 would be massivly faster than the gt730 but the 970 as recommeneded above wil be faster still but will need PCI-E power.

Is it a prebuilt? Dell/HP/Lenovo etc?

if so, you’ll need to see what the specs are of the power supply as you may need a graphics card that can run of just the motherboard.

you may not have enough power for an RX 9280 or you may not have any power cables from the PSU to power a discreet graphics card.

how long ago did you buy this computer?
