Upgrading my rig, Need help?!?!

Ok basically ill run through a few specs with you and tell you what i want doing and any help will be MUCH apprieciated :D.

Ok im a competitive gamer playing CounterStrike:Source and at the moment my computer is not performing (thanks AMD!)

i have an:-
*Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
*AMD Athlon Dual Core 6000+

These are what i want to replace i want to move over to intel so im looking for a decent motherboard and a decent processor which can be overclocked, Im looking at spending between 200-300 Pounds.

The rest of my specs are:-

Nvidia 8800 Gtx (Graphics)
Creative X-FI Soundblaster (Sound)
I have a good PSU And ddr2 ram 2 Gig.

Intel E8400, 775 motherboard that has the features you need and 2 gb more RAM should do it. If you have slow DDR2 RAM currently get a new faster set of 4GB. Motherboard left to you as prices vary so much and your RAM will have an impact on the money you have left to spend. Failing that up your budget and get an E8600 :D You should hit 4Ghz plus pretty easily.
 
Im going for quadcore now after upgrading my motherboard and processor will i need to format? or will i be able to just turn my computer on? only asking because im installing all this when we get to lan :D
