I've been getting random blue screens recently which I would assume could be either motherboard or memory.

I've just gave in and decided to get a new motherboard, processor and memory.

Now i've ordered some gigabyte board, an AMD X2 6000+ and 2gb of some Corsair Dominator stuff for £50 (Deal of the week)

Will my old X1900XTX 512mb be suitable for around another 6 months or so running games like Crysis, UT3 etc?

Machine is not built yet so I haven't tried anything.

Thanks! :)

I wouldn't fancy running Crysis on that card but it should be fine for 6 months of gaming excluding the most demanding titles.

cos amd are cheaper, and you don't have to have 4Ghz quad cores to game. The X2's seem to do 3-3.5Ghz, probably a good 3.2-3.3Ghz on air. Show me a game that a Conroe is faster than a 3.3Ghz X2 in, well show me 3 games anyway, and then tell me why a C2D is worth buying if you only game.

Nout wrong with the X1900xtx, mine used to run Crysis quite comfortably on High/Custom with some tweaking :)

And is the board you got an AM2+ or the AM2 socket? As AM2+ is still gona be around for a fair bit, as I believe the new Phenoms should work with it.

Well, you'll have to check the Manufacturers website for your board, they may release a bios update to enable support for the CPU's :)
