Are you aware that both of Intels current sockets are dead next year. 1156 in Q1 2011 and 1366 in Q3 2011. AMD makes much more sense in terms of future upgrades.

Your board can take a Phenom II 945, so you could see if you can pick on of them up. You could always email Asus & ask them if you would get away with putting a 955 in there.

That would be the cheapest option unless you want to get a new motherboard as well

Best to give it a bit of a search if you can get away with a 955 as that is a black edition & better for over clocking where's the 945 is not a black edition & there is only roughly £15-£20 price difference

no it dose not look like i can get a 955 to work with my mobo, thanks mate ;)

Did you email ASUS as some company's dont always seam to update the spec's of there older boards?

But if it still only gaming you do on your system you could look a a Phenom II x2 555 ( an if you are lucky it might unlock to a quad). But if you want a quad for gaming & you cant get a 945 maybe look at a athlon II x4 635

Check this link out & it will list what are the better CPU's for gaming

Changing the CPU is the cheapest option & you would still have a great system, unless you really want to spend all your budget & yeah you could get a i7 but it might be a liitle over kill for what you need
