Hey, I'm looking to update my graphics card, but am unsure on what to get.

I'm looking to spend around/up to the £200 mark, give or take a bit, and am also willing to buy a PSU if it would be needed.

Here is my computer specs at the minute:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9650 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM DDR2
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500
Monitor Resolution: 1280x1024
PSU: 450watt
No special cooling.

______________

Now I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card within the next week, with intention of getting a new screen (24") around December to Dual screen.

I'm not looking at something to majorly overclock, just something that will play most games in full high settings. I was looking at the GTX 470, but I'm not sure if some of the performance would be wasted on the PC specs.

Anyway, any help is much appreciated.

whats the make and model of the 450w psu? could be important when thinking about getting a GTX470.

ATI - 5850 very good card for the money last time i checked they were about £200
Nvidia - GTX470 Performance wise, is better ( By about 3-4 FPS )

ATI cards are a lot cooler and run a lot quieter

EDIT: Get something like a Corsair VX550W PSU, that'll power either of them cards no problem

Your CPU is decent it just needs to be overclocked to at least 3Ghz. My suggestion would be a 460 1GB or a 6850, recommend a new PSU as well if your current ones is not a top brand, the cash leftover from the £200 would help towards a new PSU.

Thanks for the advice :)

So the Corsair CX 500W ATX and 460 sounds good to me. What would be the best 460 to get, as they are all within my price range. :)

ECS Black (if you can find it), Msi cyclone, or the gigabyte. The 3 coolest and quietest brands currently. All roughly the same price point.

its got everything, even has two six pin pci-e connectors, so you dont have to use the molex to pci-e adaptor thats supplied with the card.

I would go for ATI as you don't know how reliable your PSU is with a new GPU and ATI/AMD run a lot cooler and take less power. I would recommend a 5850 but i would get it second hand for £170 from Gumtree or eBay. Or you could go for a 6870 from OCUK.
