Hi. Thanks for looking!

I am looking at upgrading my weird old box which has some pretty old bits in it now, but with a 980TI that is only recently starting to show its age.

I have these bits at the moment:

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
Antec High Current Pro 1200W Modular '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 980Ti Superclocked ACX 2.0+ 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

... and a Rog Swift 2.5k monitor i bought around the time of the Witcher 3 (which i feel has a good bit of life left in it).

So my goal would be to continue to play at 2.5k but up my frame rates\settings a bit and maybe lay the groundwork for a 4K monitor upgrade later. I have been toying with these bits:

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail

Stock Code CP-3B6-AM

Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 Chipset ATX Motherboard

Stock Code MB-57V-GI

Team Group Dark Pro "8Pack Edition" 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C14 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 WindForce 8192MB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Stock Code GX-1AL-GI

... but when it comes to hardware i really have no idea what i am doing. I assume my power supply is good for a while?

My budget is around 1.5-2k.

I will play a bunch of the games around Christmas but nothing is really exciting me until Cyberpunk, so i am also interested in psychological ways i can kill the upgrade itch and wait a bit. Is this a good or a bad time.

Cheers.
