Hi all and thanks for reading my post.

I should start the thread by saying i intend to upgrade my system completely once the new cards are out (both red and green) and things settled down but in the mean time, id like to explore the option of upgrading some parts of my current system to try and obtain better performance on my Acer 3440 x 1440 34 inch Freesync.

My current system is:

Intel Core i5 4690K @ 3.50GHz OC > 4.00GHz
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z97X-SLI-CF
4096MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (MSI)
238GB Crucial_CT256MX100SSD1 (SATA (SSD))
931GB Seagate ST1000DM003-1ER162 (SATA

Ideally if i could buy a decent 2nd hand GPU and possibly 8gig of ram and just wack her in, that would be perfect.

I know she's an old system but with further lockdown inc. i'll have a bit more time to spend on my pc

thanks!

8th November is when the new Ryzen 5*** launches. depending on your budget . Ryzen 5600x + B550 and rest of cash on GPU.

Pretty sure New ryzen runs 4000hz at 1:1 ratio but will have to see when reviews come out . but 16-32GB depending on the games you play

Your old i5 could end up as a bottleneck in a 1440p ultrawide system. If you overclock the max out of it might help but I still think it wil be the limiting factor if you just upgrade your gpu.

AMD

The intel chip doesnt come with a cooler but the amd does.

Unlike actually good B550 Aorus Elite, B550M Aorus Elite has garbage+25% as CPU VRM.

6/8 core it's fine , bazooka is the same . Getting matx into the mix whilst saving cash along with free 500GB PCIe 4.0 m.2 ...

Think MSI doing cash back but not instant

That's insane giving away £110 SSD...

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £128.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

Think ocuk will be doing that deal hopefully

Is this another retailer offering this?? I cant find any mention of it on gigabytes website.

MSI cash back is only for there higher up boards like x570 and x470

SO if I changed the msi mag b55m in my spec to a
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £190.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

You could get £43 cash back which would up my build suggestion by £17 with a far better motherbaord
