Hi - My current system is:

P4 3Ghz
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
1gig Twinmoss DDR400 Ram
Radeon X700 AGP
2x 36GB Raptors
1x 200GB Maxtor
Pioneer DVR109 DVDRW
400W Akasa PSU

I want to upgrade the CPU, MOBO and RAM. I'll have to get a graphics card too due to wanting the Asus P5W DH Deluxe Mobo.

What i'm thinking of getting:

CPU: E6600 2.4Ghz @ £209.14
Mobo: Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi @ £152.74
RAM: Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) @ £187.99

What do you think? I'm going to probably get a reserator 2 as well to quieten things down, and might do some mild overclocking.

Which graphics card should i get? I don't really play games, so don't want to spend much. Maybe £70 up to £100 if needs be.

I also want a quiet power supply - maybe a Nesteq Semi-Fanless PSU?

Thanks,
Priesh

Why only £100 on graphics card? If budget pulls you back, stretch for the 1950PRO.

I just don't play games really. The only intensive things i'll be doing is some dvd encoding and watching 1080p HD Video (both quicktime trailers and eventually HD-DVD/Blu-ray).

If the 1950pro is really worth getting i might stretch, but if there is a cheaper solution then that would be good.

looks good :) the 1950 pro is very good value at £130 how ever you dont play that many games. and i must admit i dont know much about the play of hd and its power requirement. next price range down say £100 would be something like this

as for psu dont know anything about that one but mos good brand ones with a 120mm fan not an 80mm should be quite quiet.

Alright i have placed an order for the following (upgraded the gcard a bit but kept nvidia for h.264 decoding performance):

Gainward BLISS GeForce 7900 GS "Golden Sample" SILENT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Can't wait to get it!
