Im upgrading my system and i need some recommendations. I need a new mobo, cpu, ram and graphics card, hard drive is optional. I will be mainly using it for light gaming and maybe video making and rendering please help thanks.

Im not sure about overclocking, was thinking about it but no extreme urge to do it however it would be nice for the option on a later time. I have a coolermaster silencio 550.

My system is currently AMD phenom x4 (not the new on old cpu), a crapy asustek mobo, 6gb ddr2 ram, 5570, and two 250gb hard drives both sata. I have two optical drives however they are old and could probably need updating in the future but no rush for it at the momment.

I have came up with 2 ideas:

First one, i3 with a new (more than powerful) GPU.

Including an aftermarket cooler, gives you the potential to upgrade to a 3570k and can overclock that to around 4.3Ghz - 4.5 Ghz. Though this is an after cost.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7850 Power Edition Twin Frozr IV OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £209.99
1 x Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £99.95
1 x MSI B75A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £69.98
1 x GeIL Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £43.99
1 x Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £25.99
Total : £461.90 (includes shipping : £10.00).

Second, i5, with an older (but will still handle all modern day games) GPU.

This i5 hasn't got a unlocked multiplier so its harder to overclock and i havn't included an aftermarket cooler. Though this will perform better than the i3.

The 6950 is an older card but still has the legs to carry any gaming rig.
