I have just bought

Ivybridge 3.5ghz i5 prob oc to 4.5ghz

2x4bg ram ddr3 1600mhz

atm i have 5770 1gb HD gpu

On my current pc I had been getting like 20-30fps in bf3 etc at medium-high settings on 1080p at the worst points/lows.

I had

2.2ghz dual core +3gb ddr2 ram.

Do you think with my upgrade I will get much improved performance 40-60fps etc...or still need to buy gpu.

I cant afford gpu atm.

as above it will definitely help especially for bf3 but a 100% improvement in minimums i would doubt happening from a cpu upgrade.

You will get mininum frame rates which will give you smoother gameplay. The 5770 is a bit of warhorse band can still most of todays games well but long term you will need a new GPU. Save up over the next few months and you might find a gtx670 has become affordable as gpu prices are falling quite sharply at the moment.

i done a test on bf3 and my cpu was failing before my gpu..egcpu maxed 100% but strugglinf therefore im holping that new cpu and ram will give me 10-20fps more?

i will buy new gpu in 1-2 months ideally about £200 price range? i was told to buy 660ti?

I had a 5770 in my current machine and i felt i had to upgrade as it was not fast enough for me. You will see improvement though as your old machine would most likely have been the bottleneck and not the 5770. I would get a 7950 as its in the same price range as the 660 at current prices and when overclocked is a step above.

That should be about right (bold). The 660 isn't worth it, i would go 7850 for half the cost, and overclock it to 660 (stock) performance.
