Hi people,

I'm upgrading my PC do these choices look sound to you?

I'll give you my existing rig first,

ASUS M4A79T Deluxe motherboard
Phenom II X2 550 processor
4 gig DDR RAM 1333mhz
PSU Alpha Power ATX-750 yes I know how awful it is
ATI HD5750 graphics

This is what I'm looking at sorry don't know how to insert the basket pic...

Asus GeForce GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **BLACK FRIDAY SPECIAL DEAL**
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 980 Black Edition
Antec TruePower New Modular 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) [GEL-TRANQUILLO ]

Thanks for looking. One question about cooler do I have to remove the one that comes with the CPU and put this new on one myself instead? Thanks.

As your motherboard supports Crossfire, have you thought about getting a 6870? and another later?

Yes you will, clean the surface of the CPU, and apply a pea size4d blob of paste that comes with the Gelid and attach the cooler.

Hi stulid I was hoping you'd be around someone said you were the man to talk to about coolers you think the Gelid is the right one for me? I'm only getting a cooler because it seems stupid to get that CPU and not overclock it.

Crossfire: I hadn't thought about it but the 560ti is on special offer. Would the 980 processor and Antec PSU be enough power for a crossfire setup? Thanks a lot for the help.

Thanks I'm off to do my maths again then. The 6950 is faster than the 560 ti isn't it? I'd feel better having 2 gigs of texture RAM anyway I'm sure games will start needing more than 1 gig soon.

You can also ditch the 980BE, and substitute a 955BE/960BE or even the 975BE and with a easy tweak of the unlocked multiplier that these "Black edition" chips have get 980BE speeds from them simply and easily.

That will ease the "funds"

The 975 is on offer it seems barely different to the 980 only .1ghz in it. That would make the graphics card more affordable. Was I right that the 6950 is faster than the 560 ti as a single card? I mainly want something that will run games in 1920 x 1200 in high detail.

Brilliant, I pretty much know what I'm going to go for now. Thanks again for all the help it really is greatly appreciated. I'll raise a drink to you tonight sir :)

Ask them in customer services about that card, they can give you pictures of its condition/box condition, see if it comes with the games in the picture also.

Ah... I was wondering what B grade was. I'm guessing it's second hand or ex display? Probably too late to contact them now since I have to order tomorrow to get the black friday deals. I don't really care about the games or the box as long as the card works. Is there a one year guarantee on B grade items? That would do me.

I'll have to give that a bit more thought then. I'm doing the upgrade because I'm having trouble with my existing setup as it is. I might have a look see if I can stretch to a new 6950.
