So i've been meaning to upgrade a few components of my rig, mainly the Motherboard and CPU, as i want to future proof the CPU and Motherboard, and i want to wait a year or two for the next make of GPU's before i upgrade that.
Also i feel there is a Data swapping fault in the Motherboard, and it doesnt have PCIe 3.0.

So right now i'm running.

GA-Z68XP-UD3P Motherboard, i7 2600 @3.4ghz, oc'd to 3.8. nVidia 680 Power Edition, 2GB vRam, 8GB Samsung Green RAM. 650W PSU.

Anyone got any suggestions to upgrade? I will also be buying a new Heatsink and Thermal paste along with this, another reason i want to replace the motherboard is because the sound card blew a while ago aswell.

I'm willing to spend around 6-700£ and would prefer maybe a 2011 Socket but not sure. Like i say, suggest away!

Is that the max you can OC that 2600 to? Is it the -k version or the standard?

What are the uses for the rig? If gaming, stick to the i7 as it's still a very good chip, and launch something like a GTX 970 into there. The i7 will still most probably net you equal or very slightly worse performance in games

I'm getting a consistent problem in some games, especially with mmos like Secret World, where things arent loading in smoothly, and getting small micro freezes in a lot of games. And i've since replaced the GPU, RAM and SSD (upgraded from a hdd to one) and the problem still persists, so i was hoping this owuld help as its the only thing i can think of right now.

Can go up to 4.2 iirc, its non K but the heatsink isnt the best.
