Hey all

So i currently have the following
Intel Core i5 4460
8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z97-A (SOCKET 1150)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (ASUStek Computer Inc)
931GB Seagate ST1000DM010-2EP102 ATA Device (SATA)

I am looking to upgrade my system but i know this means i will need a whole new motherboard due to chip style etc now i have designed a RIG and need some feedback on a CPU cooler or any other advice

Thermaltake - View 27 ATX Mid Tower Case
Gigabyte - GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Asus - GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card - CURRENT CARD
Corsair - RMx 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

850W PSU is overkill.

Go for the RMx600/650 - cant remember which one it is they do, good choice in PSU very quiet.
The 8700k has just come out, buying a 7700k loses you 2 cores - wait a month for stock or pre-order.
your GPU is your bottleneck for gaming if you go with 7700/8700k.

What monitor do you have? if its 1080p / 60hz keep your current PC (the 4460 is a very capable 1080p gaming CPU) and upgrade the GPU to a 1070 or thereabouts and buy a new PC in 2 years - unless you need more cpu power for other reasons ?

Slap in i7 4790k , overclock it and wait a year :)

As for your card Ti second hand or maybe new gtx 1060 :)

But , seems by the sounds of it you are willing to upgrade. I5 8600 looks to be a gem from coffee lake series and then Ryzen 5 1600 :)

If i was to keep the current set up what ram would you suggest as i do really need to upgrade my ram for games like "Escape from Tarkov"

Also if i was to go for the upgrade what cpu cooler would you suggest?

Try to find the same ram module as you already have and you are good to go.

Why do you need a new CPU cooler ? - your CPU is not overclockable and should be fine with the stoc intel one ? (albiet noisy!)

By ram module do you mean the exact same as what i have now?

Currently i have 8GB KINGSTON DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (1 x 8GB), i actually without thinking ordered some ram the other day i ordered 8GB Corsair Dual channel DDR3 1600MHz

I know skylake/kaby lake and coffee lake suffer big performance hit if your only running single channel memory - or one stick of ram- im guessing 3rd/4th gen Intels like yours is also the same - slap in another matching stick and you should see stable frame rates- when running 1 stick for testing - frame rates spike all over the place

as for cooler- solid £40 air cooler or 120mm AIO should do the trick :)

Can any advise me on this please the other day I ordered some ram without really thinking. I currently have currently i have 8GB KINGSTON DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (1 x 8GB), i actually ordered 8GB Corsair Dual channel DDR3 1600MHz will I run into any issues with this and do I have to install it into a certain ram slot or just next to it
