Hello all, just wondering if theres someone in the know around here.

Basically I broke my phone about 2 months ago, and its out of warranty. So I'm stuck paying for a phone I dont have (bought a £10 nokia for now).

An upgrade is available end of jan (Orange), but I was wondering if I can get this brought forward without having to pay a fortune.

I think networks will offer a reduced buy-out in some cases......there are also options around going to P4U/CPW stores, as they will often offer a deal which will involve buying out the remainder (this is actually a discount against new contract, usually, IIRC)

why not phone orange first and see what, if anything, they will do.

Already did, and (a month ago) they wanted to charge me 3 months of bills. The person on the phone did say something about loyalty discount but I got the feeling It wouldn't have made a dent on the £94 they wanted me to pay :(

In my experience, orange will pass you for upgrade but put the rest of it onto the end of your upgrade, (CPW)

Nexus or the Note. Had a play with the note and what a beast it is. im still not 100% wirh it due to it being so big.

Ahhhh right :-) Cheers Brummie. I guess the SGS2 is the first phone I've had that resembles the top-end market / iPhones etc, so I will do some more digging when I'm due again in 2 years time. In the meantime, there is always the option of me getting an Android tablet. But alas, I'm really chuffed with the SGS2.

Theres nothing out now or coming out soon that would tempt me away from my S2.

If I was buying today I'd still buy one.

Orange have changed this recently. If you upgrade within 3 months of the end you can tack this into the end of your new contract or you can now buy out early for remainder*2/3 of future monthly bill to get a new contract. I don't know the full ins and outs but the CSRs will.

As people have said, you can upgrade 3 months early and they add it onto your new contract (so if you take a 24 month contract it becomes a 27 month contract).

You can also pay off your contract with them if you wish if you are outside the 3 month early upgrade period (it's 2/3rds of what is remaining on your line rental) and start a new contract with your existing number for 24 months.
