Hi there

I got some questions about upgrading my laptop processor. I have a MSI CR700 laptop that came with Win 7 i since downgraded to win XP pro.

Is it possible to upgrade the processor to a better one?

here is a screenshot of my processor info:

Plus can i upgrade the graphics card on it to

Thank you
Kev

Your laptop supports socket P CPUs including the final release 1066 FSB CPUs. I had a CR700 briefly and tried a Q9100 but it wouldn't boot so it's unlikely to support a quad unless a hacked BIOS could allow it but not sure if that would even work.

The onboard graphics chip cannot be upgraded.

Thank you for your reply.

I just got another question I have been looking around and im getting more confused the more i look.

Can someone give me some help me with some good processor that would be better than the one i have got. any help would be great.

I am willing to spend upto £150 for a prosessor as i want to start playing some of the new PC games that have come out like BF 3 and Call of duty and so on

I think I remember the graphics chip to be a 8200M with 256MB onboard memory and unfortunately it is too slow for modern games and even the fastest socket P CPU in there wouldn't help for games because the graphics chip is just too slow.

Take that £150 and start saving for a new machine (desktop or laptop, I'd go for a Desktop as you already have a lappy). In the meantime if you have a decent internet connection have a look at services like Onlive (currently beta in the UK iirc) as that is the only way that laptop could possibly play anything remotely modern. You won't find BF3 on there though
