Upgrading RAM on an OCUK overclocked bundle.

A few years ago I bought a pre overclocked i5-750 from OCUK with a guarantee that if would run stable if left as-is on the Gigabyte P55-UD5.

Since then subsequent Windows SPs and other software have started to tax the 4GB RAM somewhat.

I still want to keep it running at the current speeds so am wary of upsetting the balance.

It's got 2 x 2gb Corsair DDR3-1600 at 9-9-9-24 (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) and I'm thinking of putting in Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit to make a total of 12GB.

Should this be ok or would I be best getting some more of the same RAM to make a total of 8GB?

Cheers for any advice.

You should be fine, you can never be 100% without trying it both are the same make and should work well

You must have a 64 bit OS or the extra memory will never be used

Cheers. I'll send the wife over to OCUK's shiny new premises this afternoon as we live pretty close.

I have 64 bit Windows 7.

Quick update on this - The RAM didn't work together in the original configuration - It BSOD'd after 10 or 15 minutes - but after swapping the 8 and 4 meg dimms around it worked a breeze. 4+8 = bad. 8+4 = good. Weird.
