Upgrading RAM on old mobo.

Wherever there is Triple Channel, there is also Dual Channel. Someone please correct me if they know of exceptions to the rule.

The trick is to insert the two sticks in the correct slots that will activate Dual Channel. The motherboard manual should contain that info.

The memory limits most likely represent what was available at the time the board was released. According to The Intel memory modes, 2 slots are one channel, the other 2 slots are individual channels. Potentially you could get a 2x4GB ram kit, move 2 of the current 2GB RAM into the channel with 2 slots and then put the 4GB ones in the single slots, which would give 4+4+2+2 = 12GB ram.

Hope this makes sense.
